1. Medial approach 00'08''

This video shows a laparoscopic right colectomy performed with the aid of the Ligasure Advance®. A medial approach was chosen. The mesocolon was opened with a dissecting electrode located at the tip of the Ligasure. To activate the electrode, the instrument’s handles must be in the fully closed position. The Ligasure can be used to bluntly manipulate tissue with the jaws either closed or opened.

2. Vascular dissection 00'54''

Careful and precise dissection was possible, for example in this case, with the ileocolic vessels. Thanks to a combination of advanced laparoscopic tissue fusion and a division function, it was not necessary to change instruments, thus decreasing operating time.

3. Transverse mesocolon dissection 01'24''

We continue the dissection of the transverse mesocolon up to the level where we planned to make the distal resection. At this level, a linear stapler is applied and the remaining mesocolon is divided with bipolar coagulation.

4. Terminal ileum resection 01'50''

The lateral attachments of the right colon are easily dissected with monopolar coagulation applied at the dissecting electrode. The terminal ileum is resected with a linear stapler. With adequate traction of the resected colon, we complete the freeing of the posterior adhesions using monopolar coagulation.
