There is an increasing worldwide interest in NOTES nowadays, but few clinical experiences in human NOTES thus far.
New developments to achieve major progress in NOTES are necessary, concerning: rapid visceral closure, new platforms to improve human ergonomics and government approval (i.e., FDA in the USA). Until then, new alternatives to NOTES have renewed the interest of surgeons, like single-incision laparoscopic surgery and mini-laparoscopy.
