Outcomes of bariatric surgery are getting better all the time. The risks are not trivial, but they are acceptably low. The benefits are that not only do patients lose weight and keep it off, but also now there are suggesting data that many patients are improved or cured of obesity-related diseases, notably type 2 diabetes. In this lecture, P. Schauer presents his results, the state of the art in the literature providing his conclusions.
