The advantages of the EUS-guided drainage (excellent visualization, avoids external fistula and interposed vessels through the use of Doppler-ultrasound) makes it an excellent option for the management of abdominal and mediastinal abscesses although the management of these types of abscesses should always be performed by an interdisciplinary team.
