Endoscopic removal of submucosal tumors in the upper GI tract
Authors
Abstract
Submucosal tumors (SMT) are typically asymptomatic and often found incidentally at upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
There are limited data in the literature on the problems of diagnosis, differentiating of malignancy and treatment. Endoscopic local resection is a valid alternative to surgery when tumor size is less than 5cm.
In this lecture, indications, clinical and radiological features and endoscopic therapeutic options are well-exposed.
