Laparoscopy in Persistent Hypoglycemic Hyperinsulinism (PHHI) in infancy

Persistent hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia of infancy (PHHI) is considered the most common cause of persistent neonatal hypoglycemia and may cause severe neurologic damage if the disease is unrecognized or inadequately treated. If medical treatment fails, surgery is required. In this lecture, Prof. Bax presents the characteristics of this disease, the reasons for the surgical treatment and the results of the surgical approach.
