Suture techniques used in open surgery have nothing to do with those used in laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic suturing has been considered much more difficult than laparotomic suturing. Nevertheless, despite the difficulty, a proper knowledge in laparoscopic suturing is absolutely necessary for advanced operative laparoscopy and can help us decrease the rate of conversion to laparotomy due to accidental injuries or difficult cases that require advanced skills in laparoscopic suturing. In this lecture, correct approaches, methodologies and instructions for different laparoscopic suturing techniques are explained.
