Paediatric fundoplication – no scope for open surgery

Fundoplication is recommended for children who have complications or persistent symptoms related to gastroesophageal reflux (GER) that are not improved by medication. In some patients, a gastrostomy tube is placed into the stomach to allow feedings to be administered and air to be released. In this lecture, Dr. Gordon MacKinlay presents all aspects of laparoscopic fundoplication in children, surgical technical details, instrumentation, operative setting and video demonstration, underlying that open repair is no longer justifiable as a routine treatment.
