Professor S Kudo (Japan)

June 2009
English - 30'41''

The advances in colonoscopy allow the diagnosis of early-stage colorectal cancers. Magnifying colonoscopy is useful for diagnosing histologic types by assessing the microstructure of the mucosal surface in detail. This is a very telling lecture in which Prof. Kudo presents different methodologies in detecting the various types of early colorectal cancer: magnifying endoscopy, chemo-endoscopy and endocytoscopy.

Doctor N Yahagi (Japan)

June 2009
English - 34'30''

Endoscopic resection of tumoral lesions at an early stage is an accepted method. Among several methods of endoscopic resection, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been developed to remove the lesions in an ‘en bloc’ fashion regardless of size, shape, co-existing ulcer, and location. Several knives for endoscopic submucosal dissection are available and each of them has some merits and demerits. In this lecture, Dr. Yahagi presents his experience in ESD for GI tumors using dual knife.
