Bowel injuries during gynecologic laparoscopic procedures occur in about 0.1% of cases and should always be considered a major complication since they may lead to a 20-50% death rate if not recognized peroperatively. In this key lecture, a comprehensive review of laparoscopic bowel injuries prevalence, mechanisms of injury, diagnosis, and subsequent management (both intraoperatively and postoperatively) is provided.
