When using a thoracoscopic technique, thymectomy can be performed via a left, right, or bilateral approach. Although he mainly favours a right approach, Dr. Petersen sometimes uses a left one, e.g. in the case of a left-sided thymoma. He presents the advantages, limitations and pitfalls of this approach.
