The evolution of bariatric surgery has dramatically accelerated over the last few decades. In Europe, a craze for gastric band placement has swept the surgical community from the early 1990s. Currently, a reversal of trends may be noted as the number of bands removed is greater than the number of bands placed. The question of a second-line surgical treatment is therefore raised and proposed to patients as soon as the gastric band has been removed. Here, we present the case of a young woman to whom was proposed a gastric bypass 3 months after she had her gastric band removed.
