Femoral hernia: laparoscopic McVay repair

This is the case of a previously asymptomatic 11-year-old boy who presented with an inguinocrural swelling with physical exercise and was proposed for a laparoscopic percutaneous inguinal ring suturing (PIRS). The diagnosis of femoral hernia was made intraoperatively. The laparoscopic McVay technique was applied, using non-absorbable Ethibond® 2/0 stitches with sliding knots to close the femoral defect. The peritoneum was closed using a PIRS technique. The patient was discharged on the same day and he was fully asymptomatic in the 48 hours following the procedure.
